On Friday 22nd November, our school took part in the “Just One Tree” initiative and held a non-uniform day. Each child donated £1, which funds the planting of a tree in Haiti, Mozambique, Kenya and Madagascar. The children raised a total of £39 and the Thorncombe Village Trust, as well as the wider community have generously donated an additional £61 which means 100 trees will be planted. The children were asked to enter a poetry competition to further mark the day’s events. The standard of entries was so high that everyone involved received a certificate of commendation. All the entries are below – we think you will be as impressed as we were!
