Children from Reception to Year 4 learned about the Countryside Code and explored our rural surroundings to identify trees on their way to Home Farm on the Sadborow Estate to learn about Arla organic dairy farming. To help children understand where our food comes from, the farmers explained the importance of worms in the soil and the cycle of cows grazing, milking and sleeping; and took us on a tour of the milking parlour and farm machinery. The children even made and tasted their own butter ahead of a picnic lunch at neighbouring Gyle 59 brewery, not open for beer at the time of our visit!
