At Thorncombe St Mary's CE Primary Academy, we provide an ambitious and progressive computing curriculum that equips children with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Children develop their understanding of computer science, information technology and digital literacy through carefully planned lessons from the Early Years to Year 6. They learn how digital systems work, create and debug simple programs, use technology creatively to communicate and present information, and understand how to stay safe and responsible online.

Our Chromebooks are used regularly across the curriculum, enabling children to apply their computing skills in meaningful contexts and enhance learning in a wide range of subjects. When using digital technology, children benefit from age-appropriate filtering and monitoring systems, alongside regular teaching about online safety, ensuring they can explore the digital world in a safe, secure and responsible way.

By the time they leave Thorncombe St Mary's, children are confident, responsible and discerning users of technology, ready for the next stage of their education and life in a digital world.
