  • Modern Foreign Languages

At Thorncombe St Mary's CE Primary Academy, children in Key Stage 2 learn French, developing their confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing another language. Through engaging lessons, they build their vocabulary, explore French culture and develop an appreciation of languages beyond their own.

Children in Key Stage 1 are introduced to French through songs, games and simple activities, helping them to become familiar with key words and phrases in a fun and engaging way.

Children in Key Stage 2 also take part in a French Day, where they have opportunities to ask and answer questions in French and experience aspects of French language and culture.

In recent years, all children across the school have benefited from specialist language teaching, helping to foster enthusiasm, curiosity and confidence in learning a modern foreign language from an early age.
